MR / Schenectady, NY /.Yates Arts in Education Magnet School / urban public elementary school / Grade 5.Boy (11, Puerto-Rican American and Dominican American) cuts outlined shape from math workbook that will be folded and assembled into a rectangular prism for math lesson on volumetric shapes. The prism will be used by students to reinforce comprehension of volumetric shapes as teacher presents lesson to class and while completing pages in workbook independently. Adding three dimensional (3D) shape concepts to traditional 2D concepts is of increasing importance in the development of math curriculum (this classroom uses a math program which emphasizes real-life context and active student involvement)..MR: AD-g5a Gon3..© Ellen B.
