MR / Schenectady, NY /.Yates Arts in Education Magnet School / urban public elementary school / Grade 5.Girl (11, African-American) does worksheet after cutting outlined shape from math workbook that will be folded and assembled into a rectangular prism for math lesson on volumetric shapes. The prism will be used by students to reinforce comprehension of volumetric shapes as teacher presents lesson to class and while completing pages in workbook independently. Adding three dimensional (3D) shape concepts to traditional 2D concepts is of increasing importance in the development of math curriculum (this classroom uses the Everyday Mathematics ® program which emphasizes real-life context and active student involvement)..MR: AD-g5a Bla6..© Ellen B.
